A big thank you from the Youth Council to Daniel Casto, Heather and Caitlyn Sell, Matt Kaye, Roxanne Johnson and James Brassard. Seven of us went to the Capital Area Food Bank on Saturday, August 18th and packed 640 lunches for hungry area children.
We are planning to take a group of volunteers on the third Saturday of each month. We leave from CCPC at 8:15AM and return by 12:30PM.
It is very satisfying work and we would love to have more volunteers next month. Contact Lori Kronser, lkronser@comcast.net, if you would like to volunteer for our next visit on September 15th.
"Back to school means new school, new friends, new -well, everything!

Chesapeake Chorale
Thinking of giving the Chesapeake Chorale a try?
If so, come to CCPC's Dodd's Hall on Sept 4, 2007 for our first "open" rehearsal.
This means you can come give us a try-out, and see what one of our rehearsals is like. If you decide to come back, then make an appointment for an audition on Sept 9, also at CCPC. CCPC is our "home," concerts are given at various area venues.
Rehearsals are every Tuesday (7:45-10:00PM), from September through May.
Questions? Ask any member (Kathy Sprouse, Dave Honeyford, Sherry or Marshall Saylors or me, to name but a few from the CCPC family), or email Jesse Parker, the Artistic Director, at jesseprkr@aol.com. Visit our website at www.chesapeakechorale.org.
Hope to see you on Sept. 4! - Marty Sippel

Memorial Garden
The area on the left side of the brick memorial walkway has been an eyesore for some time detracting from the two memorial trees that are there. The large Deodora Cedar, which was not a memorial tree but badly diseased and leaning ominously toward the CE BLDG, has been removed. Landscaping cloth was laid down and the whole area filled with mulch.
A new memorial tree for Barbara McCamish and Julia Casto will be placed in that area. We hope to install a stone river to break up the monotony of the mulch and install 3 dwarf (2ft) crepe myrtles for B. McCamish from her circle members. Besides an edging of liriope to define the area long the sidewalk, we do not plan to fill the area with plants. The new tree will need space and it will be planted in early fall.

| Religious Funnies
A minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump. "Reverend," said the young man, "I'm so sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip." The minister chuckled, "I know what you mean. It's the same in my business."
