The Pastor's Corner
Annual Time and Talent Survey
Our time and our money are our most valued commodities. During our annual fall stewardship drive we usually talk about proportional giving as an expression of your faith and devotion to Jesus Christ. We have a basic Biblical approach. We give as an expression of gratitude for what God has given us. Our giving is between us and God and is a reflection of our spiritual maturity and our economic resources. This year is no different. We will receive and dedicate your 2008 "Estimate of Giving Cards" during the worship services on November 18th.
As you well know, CCPC requires a tremendous amount of volunteer time to make this very active congregation meet its objectives. If you attended the Trunk or Treat Event on Sunday afternoon you can see how many dedicated volunteers are needed to reach out to our community. This church is blessed with many behind the scenes volunteers who give generously of their time. Thanks you, we really appreciate it!
Each year we ask our members to indicate the areas of service they are willing to share with the church. We do this through a Time and Talent survey. This information is then complied and the various committee leaders and ministries groups find new people to share their gifts and talents. This year Don Genson spent considerable time in consultation with the various ministry areas in compiling this survey. We feel it is an improved version of our last survey.
We ask that you prayerfully consider the areas of service to which you feel called and to list your willingness to serve on the Survey. Please place your completed survey Time and Talent box located in the atrium. You can also mail it to the church or place it in the offering plate. We would like to hear from everyone. The New Testament is clear that not everyone is gifted to fulfill the same functions in the church. "We have different gifts, according to the grace given us." (Romans 12:5) The questions you should ask yourself are: What are you gifted and called to do? Are we letting you do it? How can better support and encourage your service? If your job requires some training or orientation, we have organized the Time and Talent survey so the responsible Session council will provide the training.
Thank you, James Brassard

BOTH YOUTH GROUPS will meet from 5-7:30PM on Sunday.
Now, if you're wondering why we're "only" going to 7:30? simple, we'd like to leave some time for the parents to come by and see what wondrous works the kids have crafted!

Christmas Gift Market

This year, give heartfelt gifts to your family and friends. Attend the
CCPC Christmas Gift Market
any time from 9:30AM-2PM on
SUNDAY, NOV 11TH.
Your purchased items will transform poverty into prosperity, hunger into plenty, and sickness into health.
Here's how it works:
1) Review the Christmas Gift Market order form on the CCPC website, or pick up a copy from the kiosk in the Narthex.
2) Select gifts from trusted organizations like Heifer International and the Medical Benevolence Foundation in honor of a friend or loved one. Choose an animal, support a midwife's training, or fund a supply kit for a school child-your choice will help a family somewhere in the world become healthy and self- reliant.
3) Attend the Gift Market on Sunday, November 11; gift orders and payment will be accepted from 9:30AM- 2PM. Stay for soup, chili and bread; proceeds go to the Bowie Interfaith Pantry and Prince George's Hospice.
Be sure to let your friends and neighbors know about our CCPC Christmas Gift Market--the event is open to everyone in the community! You will receive a beautiful handmade gift card to present to your recipient at Christmas, letting them know you have made a wonderful gift in their name. In these days of commercialized holidays and people already blessed with too many "things," it is the simple gifts that make a difference and are most appreciated.
For more information about the CCPC Christmas Gift Market, please contact Peggy Oates.
